The Taconic and Green Regional School Board (T&G) met on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 and discussed the Community Engagement Committee’s recommendations to hold Community Forums to discuss the future of our schools. 

The board first began discussing the concept of a regional middle school two and a half years ago and last winter it became clear that discussing middle school programming in isolation was not responsible since, whether we build a new school, renovate an existing school, or reconfigure enrollment patterns, all schools in the district would be impacted. The education experience of all our students merits a more holistic exploration.

As a result, educational opportunities were reviewed, facilities were evaluated and the board began looking at the district as a whole. We want to share information with our community and hear your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. 

Each meeting will contain similar information and be formatted in the same way. I will make a presentation to the audience for about 35-40 minutes. Following the presentation, audience members wishing to ask specific questions will be able to do so for about 20 minutes. Following the question period, audience members will have the opportunity to share comments with the Board. The Board will ask people to be succinct in their comments and limit their statement to 1-2 minutes so everyone has the opportunity to speak. We invite you to attend any of the forums.

We will be creating a google form for community members to share input and comments with the Board and this will be available at the first forum at Manchester Elementary Middle School and shared publicly after the meeting.  We encourage you to visit our web page titled “The Future of Our Schools” for detailed information about the work to date.
