DRIVER EDUCATION

Effective October 1, 2023

The districts of the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union will provide driver education for its resident students consistent with Vermont statutes 16 VSA § 1045-1048 and Vermont State Board of Education Rules Sections 2350-2352.

Implementation

The District and School will share the fee for a driver’s education program with the District paying up to 50% of the cost not to exceed $400 to any Vermont State Agency of Education approved drivers' education program offered in Vermont. The school shall pay the balance of costs.

STUDENTS ENROLLED IN SCHOOLS IN VERMONT *

  • Requests for Driver’s Education payment shall be submitted by the student to the school they are enrolled in PRIOR to enrollment in any private driver's education course.

  • The school of attendance will process and pay the driver's education course directly according to the Vermont Agency of Education rules and regulations.

  • Families that pay the private driver’s education course directly will not be reimbursed.

STUDENTS ENROLLED IN SCHOOLS OUTSIDE OF VERMONT

  • Requests for Driver’s Education payment shall be submitted to the BRSU office PRIOR to the student being enrolled in the Driver’s Education course. 

  • The BRSU will process and pay the driver's education course directly according to the Vermont Agency of Education rules and regulations.

  • Families that pay the private driver’s education course directly will not be reimbursed.
