Halloween Parade

Each year on Halloween, Mettawee families gather outside the school as students and staff parade by grade around the grounds dressed up in their holiday attire. The final stop of this year’s march was the playground where the fifth and sixth grade chorus performed songs appropriate for this ghoulish holiday: It’s Halloween; Skin and Bones; and Ghost of Tom.

Back inside, the students presented their home-made decorated pumpkins with winners announced in three categories: best animal; food; and Halloween character. Some inventive youngsters, meanwhile, used computer screens to build a “campfire” in the library where they read “creepy” classic Vermont stories. And everyone enjoyed holiday snacks.

As always, lots of treats, colorful creative costumes, and family fun on Halloween at the Mettawee Community School.
