Dear Flood Brook Families:
With the arrival of a new month comes a new theme - Curiosity and Awe. This month we challenge you and our students to identify things that inspire curiosity and awe, or a sense of wonder. This way of thinking can shift our focus to the positive and the possible, and can support a practice of daily gratitude and affirmation. This month we have challenged students to submit a photo, drawing, or poster that captures something that sparks their sense of awe - something “awe-some”. Please encourage your child(ren) to participate, and reflect on people, places or things that inspire them from our campus, and at home, in their wider world. For some fascinating information on the science behind awe and how it can actually change our brain chemistry check out >span class="C9DxTc ">, discovered by our fabulous Ann Alford (one of the original submissions for a person or thing on our campus that inspires awe). Lastly, here at school we have created an “affirmation station” for our staff to help appreciate all that they bring to the community. We challenge you to transform your fridge as well.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or would like to explore the topics presented further.
Warmly,
Rebecca Blake and Brooke Paxton
